Container vegetable gardening Part 4

There are many people who romanticize nature and may wish to do gardening. But, unfortunately, these people may not be able to indulge in this hobby due to various reasons. Especially, nowadays, the problem of space constraint is a major obstacle. But, this obstacle can easily be surmounted by the concept of container vegetable gardening.

The process of this gardening starts with the step of choosing the right spot in your house for keeping these containers. The spot should be convenient to access and to do work in. It should also have sufficient sunlight and ventilation. You can take the advice of your friends and relatives who are already doing this gardening or you can consult the relevant websites for getting the right tips about this gardening. Choice of plants will decide the size of the containers you should buy. Some plants need more space and hence, buying the appropriate containers is highly important.

The next step of the process is to have the appropriate seeds. Seeds can be bought from the local stores or they can be germinated at home also. The germination process takes about 6 to 8 weeks and once new leaves start growing, you can transplant them to your containers. You should transplant these young plants with a lot of care because they are highly delicate.

You should water your plants appropriately. Mostly, it is enough if you water these plants once a day. But, certain plants like leafy ones should be watered twice a day. Experts advise that you should water these plants early in the mornings before the sun gets very hot or in the evenings after the sunset.

When you water the plants, you should also ensure not to make the leaves wet because plants with wet leaves may be affected by certain diseases. Another point you should remember is that the containers to which you transplant the plants should have adequate drainage. If the excess water is not drained out, there will be water-logging around the roots. This will cause the plant to die due to lack of oxygen.

You should consult experienced people or experts and use appropriate fertilizers for the plants. Organic fertilizers will supply a lot of nutrition to the plants. Again, Internet is another great source from which you can get many ideas to make your plants strong and healthy.

Patience is the key to succeed in container vegetable gardening. Just as a child takes years and months for growing, plants also need sufficient time to grow.
